Why Volet
A website shouldn’t
need a developer.
What the name means
Volet is French. It’s the shutter on a window: a panel you swing open to let the light in. It’s also one panel of a folding screen, and a part of something bigger.
That’s the idea. A site is a few simple panels. You open them, change what’s inside, and show the world. The mark is two of those panels folded into a V.
Who made it
I’m Wayne. I build software, mostly the tools I wish already existed. I like small things that do one job well and don’t get in your way. See more of what I make at waynep.me.
Why I built it
I made a website for a fitness coach I know, and I watched how much of the work was things nobody should have to learn: where a setting hides, what a code means, why a button went missing. The coach only wanted to change a photo and a class time.
The big website builders are heavy and expensive for what most people need, and they still make you hunt through menus. I wanted the opposite. Click the words. Change them. Press publish.
So I set a bar: a ten-year-old should be able to make a good-looking website with this. Everything in Volet is held up against that. If it needs an explanation, I make it simpler until it doesn’t.
I should have built it a long time ago. Now it’s here.
What you can count on
- Plain words. No jargon, ever. If a word needs a dictionary, it doesn’t belong.
- Your site is yours. You decide what goes on it and who sees it.
- Built with care. Safe sign-in, no passwords to forget, and nothing hidden.
Be the first to know when it opens.
